Is This Neptune Memorial The Lost City Of Atlantis?
Atlantis is the name of an island that was first mentioned in Plato’s dialogues Timaeus and Critias. Atlantis was the enemy nation that launched an attack against “Ancient Athens”, Plato’s ideal version of a western nation.
Atlantis has been mentioned many times in utopian works, especially during the Renaissance period. But more recently, some scholars have misinterpreted Plato’s stories as actual history, fueling many conspiracy theories.
These pictures of submerged ruins are considered by some as evidence of Atlantis’ existence.
The legend of Atlantis talks about how Poseidon fell in love with a mortal woman named Cleito, and in order to protect her, he surrounded the mountain where she lived with rings of water and land.
People who are convinced about Atlantis existence most commonly believe that it was located somewhere in the Atlantic or Mediterranean ocean. However, several writers have speculated that it could be located as far as in Antarctica.
