5 Hobbies That Will Make You Feel Less Stressed

No matter how calm and composed you are, there are bound to be times in your life when you’ll feel stressed. And whether that’s worrying about something you said at work or struggling to adapt to changes in your personal life, stress can sometimes feel like its locked us up and thrown away the key.

It’s not a nice feeling, and that’s why we at Loopfy are on hand to help. In most cases, people are told by doctors to combat stress by doing what they love. But on the flipside, that can also result in sitting in front of the telly all day. Instead, why not take up a hobby? Studies show that by keeping active, our stress hormones are more likely to be reduced.

Here are 5 hobbies that can help.

Whatever time or day it is, it’s imperative that you stick to an exercise regime, especially if you’re prone to bouts of anxiety/depression. And that’s not because maintaining your abs is the be all and end all of your life- far from it. Instead, the mental benefits of exercising are just as- if not more- important as the physical benefits due to the rush of feel-good endorphins that are produced form the chemicals in our brains. Even if it’s just a brisk walk in the park, or choosing to walk up the stairs instead of the elevator, such changes can do wonders to our stress levels.

2. Reading and Writing

Reading is a great form of escapism and a favourite pastime that seems long-forgotten in the age of Netflix. Nonetheless, reading shouldn’t be dismissed. After all, after a reading a few lighthearted stories, you may just have an urge to write one yourself.

3. Yoga

While there are many online tutorials for beginners, getting enrolled in a class is probably a better idea. Not only will you probably meet like-minded people experiencing similar levels of stress, but you’ll also learn an array of stress-relieving exercises that will, in time, allow you to be more at one with yourself.

4. Photography

Photography doesn’t have to involve purchasing the latest snazzy cameras. All it takes is a keen eye for seething things from a different perspective. Most of all, it allows you to observe people and things in nature you might not have previously noticed. It can be an eye-opening hobby and one which can give you a more sound and reasoned perspective.

5. Colouring

It may seem silly and juvenile, but coloring in pictures has been proven to reduce stress in adults- albeit temporarily.  Still, it is affordable and keeps your brain focused on the task at hand while also offering the incentive of working and bonding more with your child.
